February 2001
I recently  returned from Hinesville, Georgia.
I was part of a large team that worked repairing a fire damaged church.
We tore out some of the burned interior and covered over the steeple ( I felt a little closer to God).
Eventually the whole roof will be replaced (hopefully by June).

I am amazed at how many responses I  have received from this page. People have
emailed me to talk bout mission trips they have been on. Others ask were  they can
look to get on a team . Some just call to talk about thier relationship with Jesus. Yeow

March 2001
The team I hook up with is usually small (8-10 people) men women and sometimes youth.
Because we have worked together many times we get a lot of work done.  This year that was not to be. It rained so much the week before we went down that the team ahead of us didn't get the foundation in (we were going to frame, roof and side the house(high hopes).
Our team spent the week setting   forms  for the pour and working at rebuilding a kitchen.  Everything did come together.
The cement truck came an hour and a half after the inspector and we finished the foundation. The kitchen was done by five pm Friday. On the ride home thinking about the foundation it occurred to me that our work would go unnoticed by everyone, except God.      Good enough for us.

July 2001
I went to Puerto Rico from July 5 - 12. We worked on two different projects. The first project was at Casa Central
Montana, Inc., which for lack of a better description houses a child daycare center for children ages 5 - 12. It gives
them a place to play and learn and also a free meal. Our project there was to build forms for the roof  of new
building on the property. We worked there for 3 days under high heat and bright sun. Our only disappointment
was that we didn't get to pour the cement. We did get it ready, though. Our second project was in the city of
Arecibo (you know, where the James Bond telescope is...we did get to see it too). On that project we cleaned an
abandoned building  Barrio Obrero. We cleaned out all the debris, washed and painted the walls, and repaired
the doors. The building will be used for a clothing and food pantry, and also for family counseling. One thing which amazed me was the response of the local people to our presence in the area. By the end of the week many peple came forward and volunteered to help at the pantry.

There is a building across the street which I hope to do some work on during the month of January. We cleaned it up.
Next is to secure the door and window openings and put a new roof on. The pastors plan is to open another center like the one in  Adhountas. There would be more room for the children to learn and play. The pastor also plans to open a church office at the pantry as a visable sign of the church's presence in the community.

August 2001
In August I was able to work on two different teams. The first was with a group in Maine. We built a handicap ramp
at the Methodist Church in Newport. When we arrived we were given a yellow lined piece of paper with a drawing
on it. That was our blueprint.  We ended up with 70 feet of ramp and four landings. In the end we named it the Cyclone.
The last part of the ramp was 32 feet long and wound around a tree ending up a foot from the 25 mph speed sign planted in the lawn. (I moved it when no one was around).

November 2001
I'm making plans to go back to Puerto Rico for the month of January. My plan is to continue work on a building at the Barrio. With God's help a few volunteers and some extra money I hope to get the roof back on before I come home.
At present There is one person who will come down for a week and another that is interested. As each day gets colder
I'm looking forward t othe trip more and more.
